This workshop on domestic wastewater will be held in person at our home, Can Cel, in the Alt Maresme region of the province of Barcelona.
During the workshop, which begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 6:30 p.m., we will take a closer look at the element of Water, which is so essential to life itself. We will explore concepts such as its characteristics, its natural and anthropogenic cycles, and its current state.
We’ll take a closer look at how we can reduce our water footprint at home through rainwater harvesting and storage techniques, but above all, we’ll delve into the reuse of wastewater in our landscapes, and the many benefits that installing a #SIP (Landscape Infiltration System) and/or a #SIRAR (Comprehensive Wastewater Reuse System) can provide.
You’ll see our #SIP system in action, complete with its siphon and manifold, and you’ll have the opportunity to examine each component of the #SIRAR system and help with its installation and connection, since we’re currently in the process of installing our own system. We’ll show you how to design and size the system for your own home based on the model we’ll be installing today, Saturday, October 15.
In addition to wastewater reuse, you’ll also see two models of dry toilets designed to eliminate sewage, which has traditionally been the most “problematic.”
There will be a break in the morning, during which we’ll serve some light snacks from La Casa Integral. We’ll also be offering herbal teas (hot and cold) throughout the day.
We invite you to bring something to contribute to the potluck—something as local, eco-friendly, and seasonal as possible—so that we can create a meal together that’s as delicious and diverse as possible, with each person contributing according to their own resources and circumstances, and without any pressure. It’s usually the highlight of the day, because food brings people together! We’ll eat at 1:30 p.m.
