One of our passions is to facilitate regeneration in various ways. One of these is sharing knowledge within a professional context; another is creating spaces for connection, such as events.
A few months ago, we published the article“Accompanying the Transition,”in which we discussed our work advising the “co-housing” project, “La Fábrica de la Transición.” Since then, we have continued to work with various housing cooperatives and ambitious projects that seek to build real alternatives for how we live on this planet.
“The future will be collective or it won’t be at all”—that’s what we like to say… and what we like to believe. That’s why we devote a significant portion of our energy to working with multidisciplinary teams—including architects, engineers, landscape architects, construction companies, property owners, and others—to bring a truly permacultural and, therefore, regenerative perspective to our projects.
Each professional team has a unique role and set of skills that need to be harnessed to serve the main purpose of these projects… and that’s not always easy or obvious. This is where the role of facilitation becomes valuable.
To allow all voices to be heard, to provide an inclusive and integrative perspective, to highlight the dynamics of erosion and be able to curb them, to identify those of abundance and be able to enhance them, to inspire, to generate enthusiasm, to achieve objectives, tasks, assign responsibilities, reach group agreements, etc.
More and more people are turning to the principles of permaculture and group facilitation tools to enrich their work processes when undertaking large-scale projects.
At La Casa Integral, we deeply believe in collaboration among individuals, groups, organizations, and society; that is why we also support associations such as PermaMed ( Mediterranean Permaculture), which has been active since 2011 in Mallorca and at both the European and global levels, as well as BiorNE (Iberian Permaculture Association of the Northeast Bioregion), a collective that has brought together the permaculture movement primarily in Catalonia and, to a lesser extent, in Aragon since 2016.
On July 22, 23, and 24, we co-organized the BiorNE summer gathering, holding it for the first time in the Pyrenees, at the site of one of our most ambitious clients: BaseCamps, a campground that aims to prove that “Regenerative Tourism” may not be an oxymoron.
As consultants on the Green Living Projects team, we’ve had the opportunity to bring the perspectives of permaculture and regenerative design to every aspect of our work, emphasizing the analysis of the land and the surrounding ecosystem, water balance and water harvesting measures, the use of bioclimatic design and healthy materials in infrastructure, energy sources connected to the region, activities that enrich the existing social fabric, and work dynamics that move away from conventional hierarchical structures.
The couple who own the campground, Marc and Cristina, opened their doors—and much more—to allow various people to “tread lightly” on their property and contribute ideas, solutions, and diverse perspectives.
We believe this has been a fine example of the application of the third principle of permaculture, which emphasizes sharing resources and surpluses to ensure and thus care for the future.

During the event, we facilitated group design exercises to allow collective intelligence to emerge. There were nearly 100 of us in an idyllic setting—relaxed, comfortable, and eager to come together to create something unique.
Over the past 15 years of experience in the field of permaculture design and through our interactions with like-minded groups, we have accumulated a wealth of resources in the form of knowledge and relationships with people who together form a rich and diverse ecosystem. We feel it is our duty to put this at the service of Regeneration; that is why every client—regardless of size—who comes to us receives the collective intelligence of that ecosystem.
Organizing events like this really helps us believe more in humanity. When indicators from all sides are sounding the alarm, events like these give us hope.
